This weekend Bobby is away in Washington DC at an MBA Basketball tournament at Georgetown, so what better time to get in some girl time? Friday night my friend Theresa hosted a Mary Kay party at her apartment so a small group of us went over there for that before heading out to the bar for a Simon GBC Happy Hour. I had never been to a Mary Kay party before and that is probably the last one I will go to haha. Not like it was bad or anything like that but I don't foresee myself every buying anything Mary Kay so it would be kind of pointless to go to any more...but it was fun hanging out with the girls nonetheless and it was a good pre-game before going out! Funny thing happened though Theresa was in such a rush to get out she was switching purses and definitely forgot her keys and locked herself out of the apartment...her husband is with Bobby in DC too by the way so I said she can just crash at my place and we will deal with in the morning...well we got back to her apartment because that is where my car was parked and we were like lets try to break in. Well sure enough we slid her drivers license in between the door and the frame and moved it up and down and the door flew open! So word to the wise...breaking into a house that isn't dead bolted is REALLY easy to do and we did it in under 30 seconds so dead bolt your door! It was a pretty fabulous way to top off the night haha
Today my friend Theresa and I went and tried on wedding dresses! Well I tried on wedding dresses she came for support. It was not successful. The first place we went to I had made an appointment at...it was a very small place, the dresses were in a back room so we couldn't even look through them she just picked some out I didn't like any of them. She actually pulled Laura's exact wedding dress and I tried it on and it was definitely my favorite but obviously not going to get the same dress she had haha so we left that place it literally took 30 minutes it was kind of ridiculous they didn't have very many options...idk very anti-climactic. So we decided to try to go to another place down the road that we didn't have an appointment at and they took us right in! This place was way better had all of the dresses out so I could look through and pull the ones I wanted to try on, much more of a bridal feeling than the other place. Well I didn't really like any of the dresses ON me, BUT I found a freaking AMAZEBALLS belt that I am obsessed with and honestly felt like buying and finding a dress to go with the belt haha! I didn't obviously but it is seriously the most beautiful thing ever...so it has made me think a lot about what I want and I still don't know...Bobby is so opinionated about dresses and what he likes it makes it nearly impossible to decide because we don't like the same thing....its frustrating for sure so I don't know. Guess it is a good thing i have about 6 months before I NEED to order a dress.
Now the rest of the weekend I am hopefully going to work on my bridesmaid project I started a couple of days ago...hopefully I can finish one of their gifts we will see....I am not feeling very motivated right now, but maybe later! :)

Valentine's
Considering I worked 10 hours and Bobby has/had midterms this week our Valentine's day was not exactly one for the books lol I didn't get home from work till a little after 6pm and he had just gotten home slightly before from his classes and midterms. I actually put his gift together at work while Julia was napping (that is how prepared I was) and had gotten him a card last week. I made him a shadow box with pictures and things from our engagement in St Lucia; receipt from our land and sea tour (where he proposed), the champagne cork from our engagement lunch, plane ticket stub etc. I had gone to Joanne's with Julia earlier and picked up some cute little scrapbook stickers to add to it as well. It turned out really cute and he loved it. He oddly enough really enjoys shadow boxes so it was a good gift for him plus it doubles as an awesome memory holder for me which I love! It is now on display in our apartment :) This was the second shadow box I made, I also made one for Laura for her wedding. It is such an easy and cute way to save important memories and I know I will be making many more throughout the years!
Because we had NO plans, a couple of our (single) guy friends invited us out to Buffalo Wild Wings (romantic right?) for dinner and so we went...why not? haha So, basically that was our Valentines Day which is fine by me. We show each other how much we love each other on a daily basis and don't need one day on the calendar to tell us when to show each other. I am just blessed to have him with me on a daily basis. We had a good friend of ours from college recently lose her boyfriend of 4 years to the war in Afghanistan and it was absolutely devastating...she couldn't have the one she loved the most with her on Valentine's day so I didn't care if he got me flowers, chocolates, or a card...just having him HERE was enough for me.
RIP Sgt. William Stacey you are forever missed. <3

Thoughts & Prayers
So, I don't really have much to blog about, nothing crazy or exciting has happened over the past few days but I have been thinking a lot...just about so many different random things. There hasn't been a lot going on, but at the same time there is a TON of things going on. Some of these things are wonderful exciting things...some of them are extremely sad and horrible things...all happening at the same time. It is just crazy how life works, no matter how terrible or amazing your life is there is still tomorrow...you still have to go on and everyone else goes on as well. I know this sounds a little loopy but I have just found myself caught in between feeling SO happy and excited for the future, while at the same time feeling so unbelievably heart broken over what is going on in my best friend's life. Although I KNOW she is the strongest person I have ever met even the strongest of people need support, prayers, and to just break down sometimes.
Her father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on Thanksgiving of 2011 and ever since then it has been a downward spiral. Things have even become drastically worse between when I saw him last friday and today...9 days. He isn't himself anymore...the cancer has spread and the drs told them the treatment was only making it worse. I can't even begin to fathom how she feels watching her father disappear in front of her very eyes. He is there physically, but mentally and emotionally he is drifting further and further away. He had been in SO much pain because the cancer spread to his bones causing his leg to break...no amount of pain medication was helping him...and now they have (from my understanding) stopped treatment because it was causing even more major issues...and they are just trying to keep him comfortable. He doesn't exhibit anymore signs of pain, but with that he doesn't exhibit any signs of anything really. I imagine this would be such a sad feeling not being able to talk to her dad, really, because he isn't responsive, but at the same time relieving knowing he is not feeling pain both emotionally and physically. Her Dad Rocco will always hold a special place in my heart. He has always been so welcoming anytime I would come to visit, would always go out of his way to be as accommodating as possible. He was such a character and always made me laugh with his jokes and turkey calls early in the morning haha. I know that their family have so many amazing memories to hold onto of him and that even once he passes he will be whole again, with God and with his little angel grand baby Lyla. I have never told her this...but sometimes I think that maybe God wanted him to be with Lyla in heaven. Maybe she needs her grandpa and God wanted them to be together to watch over their family. I don't know I just always try to believe that as difficult as these situations are, and how incomprehensibly sad something like this has to be...everything happens for a reason and God always has a plan. As much as I know their family would rather have Rocco on earth physically with them, I know that he will always be with them in their hearts and will be yet another guardian angel looking over them throughout the rest of their lives.
I just can't believe that she is losing her father, after she just lost her daughter less than a year ago. As much as I believe in God and in everything happening for a reason, I still just think how unfair life can be and how unfair that such horrible, sad things can happen to SUCH amazing people. I pray for them every single day, multiple times a day; for strength, courage, mercy, faith, etc. I know God granted Rocco mercy by taking his pain away so that is definitely something to be thankful for. I just hope they all find peace with everything and their hearts don't take too long to heal from all of this. I love the Covalt family beyond words and I feel like they are my family as well. I always wish there was more that I could do for them, but I know that they know if they ever needed ANYTHING they could ask. They are amazingly courageous and strong people and I could only hope to be half as strong as them in the same situation. They're truly an inspiration. <33

Finally!!!
So, about 3-3.5 years ago Bobby and his dad started on a big oil and gas deal in Wyoming. Their Native American heritage comes from Wyoming and they have family and therefore connections there as well. Because of this they were able to begin a project taking over oil and gas leases in the Wind River area of Wyoming. Well, this has been an ongoing project over the last 3 years that included many, many trips for Bobby and his dad to Wyoming to meet and talk with the Joint Business Council to work out a deal. I can not even tell you how many times and how many days they spent in Wyoming over the past 3 years and how many hours that Bobby logged working on this deal and today they FINALLY signed the letter of intent meaning this deal finally went through!
I am SO unbelievably proud of Bobby for sticking to this deal. He grew up in the oil and gas business and this is his first oil and gas deal. I think we had both gotten to the point of well we will believe it when we see the signed letter and today we have it in black and white! The council had said they were going to sign SOOO many times, to no avail, but today it is officially a done deal! But now, Bobby has a ton of work to do with finding financing to fund the start up of the project and it is going to require a TON more work to get everything going but having the signatures is the biggest step because they are officially IN. Bobby had been waiting to hear back about internships, but now THIS will be his "internship" over the summer and his job basically from here on out. We may be living in Wyoming this summer now, but we haven't really gotten that far we have been busy trying to wrap our brains around the fact that this actually happened! He will definitely be going to Wyoming but as far as what I am going to do is still up in the air because I have J-O-B-S to go to everyday haha They do know though that Bobby has an internship this summer and that there was a possibility of me going with him for the whole summer or for at least part of it so they are pretty flexible with it so that is nice to know I won't lose my job over being gone for a couple months this summer if it ends up that way.
I am just SO excited and proud of Bobby his persistence and hard work finally paid off and it is just such a great feeling! I am so excited for the future now even more so than I already was and I can't wait to see how the next few months pan out for us! :) Let another adventure begin!!!

Harlow Adriana
Saturday of my trip home was Laura's baby shower for Miss Harlow Adriana! I had spent all day Thursday building the diaper cake for her shower and I have to say I think it turned out quite well! I had a blast building it and can't wait until the next one. Friday after dress shopping I went home with Laura and spent the night. I am so glad I was able to do that and spend that extra time with her, I miss her so much! I was also able to see her dad which I feel very blessed for, he is such a great man and always makes me smile :)
Saturday morning we set up some final things for the shower, I was in charge of greeting people and collecting diapers and wipes. Anyone who brought diapers or wipes put their name in a box for a raffle that would be taking place later on in the day. Laura's mom had the shower catered by a mexican restaurant and it was so delicious! Everyone just ate and chatted for probably the first hour or so and then we all gathered in the living room to play a few fun games. After games we had cake and cupcakes, followed by gifts!! She got SO many cute things for Harlow and also a lot of things she was really needing! All of the cute outfits made us so anxious for her to get here! It was such a special day with all of her good friend and her family coming to celebrate the arrival of Harlow Adriana, April can not come soon enough, but I know it will be here before we know it!
After the shower was over people started trickling out the door and once most everyone was gone Laura and I were able to spend some more quality time together which again, I am so thankful for. We discussed the wedding, and also when it was going to be my turn to have babies haha (soon enough!) and how we want to try to be pregnant at the same time! It would be so fun to be pregnant with my bestie so I hope we can work that one out ;) I loved being able to rub Laura's belly and feel Harlow kick and roll. It is just such an amazing feeling to be able to feel her little body move inside and know she's in there and going to be here so soon! It was so funny because Harlow hadn't been moving for awhile and while Laura and I were sitting on the floor I went and was rubbing her belly and Laura started commenting on my engagement ring and how much she loved it and sure enough Harlow just started kicking and rolling around right then. So we know this little girl is going to love her diamonds and jewelry ;) I so can not wait for this little girl to arrive. I am so happy for Laura and Adam, they have been through such a hard year with losing their little angel Lyla and going through this horrific time with her dad that they deserve this happiness coming their way with the arrival of Harlow. She is such a little blessing and she is going to have the most amazing mommy and her auntie is going to just spoil her rotten! <3

Dresses!
As I mentioned in the previous post last weekend I flew home to Northern California to go dress shopping with all of my bridesmaids and mother-in-law in San Francisco. My mom was supposed to be there too of course, but with my grandfather passing away she was in Michigan with my grandma helping her through this difficult time. It definitely felt weird not having here there, but we all had such a great time together. I hadn't seen Laura E. in almost a year, Molly in about 9 months, and Laura M or Bobby's mom Laura since July! (You can see that I like friends with name Laura haha). So, since my mom was in Michigan Bobby's mom picked me up from my mom's house and we met Laura E. at the BART station in Pittsburg. We all rode BART into the city and met Laura M and Molly at the Bridal Galleria which is located in the Embarcadero Center. Laura E. had purchased her wedding dress from there and said they were fantastic which they definitely were! I was a little nervous for some reason to try on wedding dresses it still feels so surreal to ACTUALLY be planning my wedding after 10 years of waiting to do so! I am not very fond of having all kinds of attention on myself so I was having some butterflies about trying on dresses in front of a group of people, but they were fantastic and I am so glad they were all able to come!
I checked in and we all wondered around the salon looking at gowns that I may want to try while we waited for my bridal consultant to come out and meet me. Shonna, my bridal consultant came out a few minutes later, asked me about my wedding; when it was, where it was, what kind of theme I was having etc and she took me back to my fitting room. She then got me some shoes and a corset/strapless bra to wear with the dresses. The salon was pretty busy so all of the girls in my group sat in the main lobby of the salon so everyone out in Embarcadero Center shopping saw me in every dress haha I tried on probably 6-7 dresses, there was only one that I stepped into and didn't even need to zip it up before I said "No!" lol I tried on a lot of form fitting gowns which is what I was pretty sure I wanted (and definitely sure after this trip). The first dress was all chantilly lace, it fit beautifully but I didn't like all lace. The next three were partial lace gowns...one was such a hollywood glamour WOW dress but was too formal for our venue but just stunning and fun to put on! After a few of the same style partial lace fit and flare gowns Shonna decided to "cleanse the pallet"So she also had me try on a couple of odd balls, an a-line and then a super romantic flowy ball gown "type" dress. It wasn't a big poofy dress at all but ball gown is the only style I can think to call it. I was not really feeling it at first, but after walking out and wearing it for a few minutes I actually REALLY liked it. It fit our garden theme quite well and it was so light and comfortable and the top fit perfect and was so flattering. The bottom was so whimsical looking with the flowy pieces, I literally felt like a fairy princess or something. After trying on the whimsical dress Shonna brought back my favorite dress to date. It was literally EVERYTHING I loved about each dress I had tried on all rolled into one dress. It was just absolutely beautiful. I felt amazing in it and when I walked out to show everyone their faces lit up with mine. It was exactly the reaction I was hoping I would get because I loved it so much. I got goosebumps and my eyes started tearing up I just had a feeling that I hadn't gotten before. It was so funny too because after admiring it Shonna told me the designer and it happened to be the SAME designer that Laura's dress was! She is so cute she said she knew she had a connection to the dress for a reason when I first walked out so that was why! ;) I just felt so amazing in this dress, but I do wants some kind of embellishment which this one did not have so we discussed being able to add a few little crystal details on the dress or also using amazing statement jewelry. Shonna then took me back and grabbed an absolutely beautiful veil that had crystals cascading down the bottom of it. It was a much longer veil than I would ever think of getting because it would be dragging on the ground, but it really was beautiful. I didn't want to take the dress off, so I guess that means it was a good one!
We ended on a fabulous note with that last dress. She wrote down the information about the dress and I got dressed to leave. I am definitely going to have to go back and show my mom that dress next time I fly home. I loooooved that dress so much, but being that my wedding is still a year and a half away I am too scared to commit so I will keep shopping around and hopefully it will confirm my decision either way that it IS or is not the dress. I don't feel like I have tried enough on, there are millions of dresses our there and I have to be SURE I pick the perfect one! Molly cracks me up, there aren't supposed to be pictures allowed in that bridal salon, but somehow she snuck about 4 pictures of me in that last dress. Gotta love her! Nobody even knew until she told us after we got to dinner! haha So glad though because I was able to show my mom my favorite dress of the day!
After dress shopping we were all famished of course so we walked a block down to a restaurant/bar and had a wonderful dinner! Laura's boyfriend who is also Bobby's best friend and a great friend of mine was able to join us and it was so good to see him! We all sat there talking for a good 3 hours the time flew by so fast. I would just sit there for a minute and observe my best friends, who were strangers only hours ago chat away like they had been life long friends. It doesn't get much better than that! I felt like we all bonded SO much and it was just the perfect end to a perfect day!

Blessed
There is just something about flying back home that is just so amazing...seeing places I haven't seen in a long time, being in California itself is just a feeling I can't explain and I don't think anyone can really understand unless you live out of state and then go back, and of course seeing people you haven't seen in months or almost a year! I had been looking forward to this trip back home SO much and had imagined how it would go in my head and I have to say besides my mom not being there of course, it was absolutely better than I even imagined it would be.
I took a 6am flight from Rochester to JFK, had about a 3 hour layover at JFK and took a direct flight to SFO and arrived at around 2:30 in the afternoon. I especially love flying into San Francisco because I can see the city as I fly in and it makes me so happy and always just brings a smile to my face. My step dad Darren picked me up since my mom was in Michigan and we drove home...a long 2 hour drive home. There wasn't even that much traffic besides one construction spot in Pittsburg but it just took forever and felt like forever after being on a plane for 6 hours. We eventually made it though around 4:30pm and I pretty much just relaxed and watched tv that night and was falling asleep by 630 haha. I was able to see my step sisters Syndey and Kendra and the new addition little Lilah (A tiny little white Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix puppy) so it was nice to see them. I went to bed around 9 and was out by 930pm...pure exhaustion. Even though I am able to sleep a little bit on plane rides, I had only gotten around 3.5-4 hours of sleep that night before flying so I had little to no sleep. Thursday I had some errands I needed to run and also wanted to get a mani/pedi since it had been so long and I was going dress shopping so of course I wanted pretty nails! :) So, I took my time getting ready in the morning, made myself pancakes, and set off to 8 mile around 1030 to pick up a few last minute things for the diaper cake that I made Laura for her baby shower. I did all of the shopping first and then went and got a mani/pedi. I seriously need to start doing them more often it is such a simple pleasure that makes me feel so much better every time. So, by the time I was done with all of that it was around 1pm and I figured...hey I am in California I can't NOT get in and out so thats what I had for lunch and boy was it yummy! After I got home and finished eating it was time to conquer the diaper cake! It took me awhile to roll up and rubber band all of the diapers I needed to build the cake, but once I had those all rolled and figured out how to secure the bottom layer the rest was pretty easy. I am SO glad my mom had a hot glue gun because it would have been borderline impossible to assemble that thing without one it made it so much easier. The cake took me about 3.5-4 hours to complete because I had to figure out where to place everything and how to attach the onesies and stuff but once I figured out the best way to that it was just so much fun placing everything and seeing the finished product. I absolutely loved making it and can't wait till the next one I can make! I think it is such a fun and creative way to give little gifts and it made for a great centerpiece at the shower. I wasn't the only one who ended up making a diaper cake though (which was kind of a bummer in a way LOL ) her old cheer coach made a cake AND a bike so she totally outdid me but Laura loved mine too ;) We were joking about how that should be my side business in Rochester and even just in general it would be a good way to make money and it's something that is SO fun to do so I will definitely have to keep it in mind and spread the word to people who have friends having babies or baby showers or even bridal showers to attend. Who knows maybe I could actually make a living off of doing something like that and I could work from home hello DREAM job!
Anyway, Thursday night Darren took me to dinner at good ole Lucy's (where my mom works) and we shared a pineapple upside down cake drink (which was amazing btw) and he also talked me into getting ice cream...so yes I had in and out, sugary drinks, and ice cream all the day before I went wedding dress shopping haha! I don't want this post to be obscenely long so I will do separate posts for dress shopping and the baby shower days, however...during the whole time I was waiting in the airport in SF, the whole flight back to NYC and all of this time I have been sitting here at JFK I just keep reflecting back on my always too short trip back home and just honestly feel overwhelmed with joy and happiness. It literally brings tears to my eyes thinking of the AMAZING memories that were made in such a short amount of time. I just feel so truly blessed to have SUCH amazing friends, such amazing friends that we can go months and almost a year without seeing each other and we just pick up RIGHT where we left off like we just had lunch together the day before. Friendships like that do not come around often and neither do the people you share them with. I love each and every one of them so much and I could not ask for better women to not only be by my side on my wedding day, but to be by my side for the rest of my life. It is such a blessing to know that although we all live so far away and all have our own lives and issues going on, we can still come together and have the BEST time with the very limited amount of time that we have together. And not only that, but the fact that the girls had never met each other (besides Laura and Laura but haven't seen each other in YEARS) and you would never know because they all were talking like they have been friends forever and to be able to sit back and watch that seriously made my heart melt and made me SO unbelievably happy to know that those are the women who are going to be with my on my wedding day and through out this whole wedding planning process, the same women who have been by my side for years already and for many many more years to come. They will all never know how much their friendship means to me....the WORLD! <3
